the Shopify POS system up and running,
enabling you to sell effortlessly in
person while keeping your online
inventory updated.
All you'll need is access to your
Shopify admin and a mobile device like
an iPhone, iPad, or Android to get
started.
Let's dive into the steps to set up your
Shopify POS.
First, you'll need to log in to your
Shopify admin dashboard.
Once you're in, look to the left sidebar
and find the app section.
Click on this section, and then choose
the option to add a new app.
This will direct you to the Shopify app
store.
In the store search bar, type in POS and
look for the official Shopify point of
sale app.
This app is developed by Shopify itself,
ensuring it perfectly integrates with
your store.
Click on the app to open its page, and
follow the on-screen instructions to add
it to your store.
During this process, you'll encounter a
few confirmation screens.
Simply continue through these by
approving each step until you reach the
install button.
Once you click install, give it a moment
to set up the POS sales channel in your
Shopify admin.
After installation, you'll be taken to
the POS sales channel overview page.
On this page, you'll find the option to
get the Shopify POS app for iOS or
Android.
Depending on your device, click the
corresponding platform, and follow the
prompts to download the app from either
the App Store or Google Play.
If you're accessing this from a desktop,
you can either copy the link to your
phone or scan the QR code provided to
open the download page directly on your
mobile device.
If you're already using your device,
simply tap through to install the app.
Once the app is installed, open it and
sign in using your Shopify credentials.
This will connect the app to your
Shopify store.
If you're asked to confirm your country
or region, make sure to select the
correct option for your business.
This step is vital as it ensures your
payment hardware, taxes, and other
regional features function correctly.
Next, return to your Shopify admin.
Under the POS sales channel, look for
the staff section.
Here, click on manage users to decide
who can access the POS.
Adjust their permissions so they have
the ability to log in, process payments,
and manage orders as required.
It's important to ensure that at least
one staff member has the necessary
access before you begin selling.
Now, let's move on to locations.
Navigate to the location section and
click on add location.
This is where you specify where you will
be selling in person.
It could be a permanent retail shop, a
temporary pop-up, or any other physical
venue.
Give this location a clear, descriptive
name, and enter its address.
Later on, you'll assign inventory to
this location to ensure the items are
available for sale in your POS system.
Finally, open the POS channel settings.
Here, review the relevant options
available to you.
If you see an option to check your
channel availability alongside the
online store, make sure to do so to
ensure your products appear where you
expect them to.
This is an excellent opportunity to
verify that the items you plan to sell
are indeed available at your POS
location.
