Nicole from Smile.io here
in this video I'm going to show you
how you can use Shopify Flow
to further customize and
automate your loyalty program
Shopify Flow is an eCommerce automation platform
that's provided to Shopify
Plus and Advanced merchants
and when used along with Smile.io
merchants who are on the Pro Plan and higher
can use Shopify Flow
to give points for certain actions
customers take in their store
for example
you could give bonus points
for ordering a specific product
ordering a product from a specific collection
spending a certain amount
or ordering a certain number of times
this is done by creating workflows
and there's no coding needed
which means that it's super easy
there's three building blocks to workflows
triggers, conditions, and actions
a trigger is an event that starts a workflow
a condition is a rule that determines
whether or not an action is taken
and an action is a task that's
completed when the conditions are met
in this video we'll walk through an example
of creating a workflow that
starts when an order is paid
and then checks if the order contains an item from
the pie's collection in my store
and if it does sends the customer 500 bonus points
to do this we'll take three main steps
step one is creating the
Flow action in Smile.io admin
step two is building the workflow in Shopify Flow
and step three is creating the earning
rule that the workflow will trigger
let's head into Smile.io admin
to get started with step one
creating the Flow action
in Smile.io admin in "Settings" under "Platform"
merchants on the Pro Plan and higher
who are also on Shopify Plus and Advanced plans
we'll see a separate section
for Shopify Flow actions
here you can click "Create Flow action"
and select the trigger type
and action title for your Flow
there are two options of trigger types
"Customer created" and "Order paid"
"Customer created" triggers an action
when a new customer is added in Smile.io
"Order paid" triggers an action when a new order
is created in your store
we'll select "Order paid"
since we want the order if it contains a pie
to trigger the points earning
next you can select your "Action title"
this should read as an instruction to the customer
in this example our "Action title" will be
"Add a pie to your order"
and then "Added a pie to your
order for the past tense"
now you'll see your "Activity type" come up
we can copy this "Activity type"
and paste it into Shopify Flow later
now click "Next" and we'll head into Shopify Flow
for step 2 building the workflow
in Shopify under "Apps"
you'll want to install Shopify
Flow if you haven't already
once you have navigate there
and click "Create workflow"
here you can choose to
browse the pre-made templates
or select a trigger to start
building your own custom Flow
if you browse the templates under "Loyalty"
you'll find there's a couple
of Smile.io pre-made templates
that make it really easy to build a workflow
there's one that rewards customers for
placing a set number of orders
and another that awards bonus points
for purchasing a specific product
but let's continue with our
example and create a custom Flow
now remember from Smile.io admin
our trigger was "Order paid"
so we want to find "Order
paid" on this trigger list
now that we've set our
trigger let's add a condition
when you click "Add criteria"
we'll select "Order" because the condition
we're setting is about the order that was paid
here you're going to see a ton of options
there's a lot of possibilities but let's continue
by selecting "Line items"
this is going to have the workflow
check the list of items in the order
after that we'll choose "Product"
because we want the workflow to check each
individual product in the list of line items
and since we want to check for the collections
that the products are in we'll
choose "Collections" next
and lastly we'll select "Title"
so that we can just enter in
the title of the collection
now we'll add our "Action"
when you click here if you've installed Smile.io
you'll see Smile: Rewards and
Loyalty under installed apps
after you select Smile.io
you'll see the option to "Send Smile.io activity"
this is what's going to send points
now this is where you'll paste
the activity type from earlier
if you forgot to copy it
you can head back into Smile.io admin
under "Settings" and "Platform"
and you'll have the option to
open the Flow action back up
so you can copy the "Activity type" again
let's head back to Shopify and paste it in
and now we'll select the
"Order id" or "Customer id"
since our trigger type was "Order paid"
we're going to select the "Order id"
but if it had been customer created
we'd enter in the "Customer id"
finally turn on your workflow
and step two is complete
now we'll head back into Smile.io admin
for our final step creating the earning action
once you're back in Smile.io admin
if you look under "Program" and then "Points"
and select "Add ways to earn"
you'll see that there's a
brand new earning rule for
the Flow that we just created
let's finish setting it up by selecting the
amount of points we want to give
which in our example was 500
and then clicking "Create"
now a customer will earn 500 points
for orders that contain an item from
the pie's collection in my store
I hope this video gave you an idea
of what's possible when you use
Shopify Flow along with Smile.io
don't hesitate to reach out with any questions
thanks for watching

admin 00:04:48.400 --> 00:04:50.880 for our final step creating the earning action 00:04:52.480 --> 00:04:54.000 once you're back in Smile.io admin 00:04:54.000 --> 00:04:56.480 if you look under the Flow that we just created 00:05:03.280 --> 00:05:05.280 let's finish setting it up by selecting the 00:05:05.280 --> 00:05:06.880 amount of points we want to give 00:05:06.880 --> 00:05:08.560 which in our example was 500 00:05:09.280 --> 00:05:10.560 and then clicking "Create" 00:05:11.360 --> 00:05:13.680 now a customer will earn 500 points 00:05:13.680 --> 00:05:15.360 for orders that
