A great welcome email sets the tone for
your brand and makes the first customer
interaction feel personal. It can turn a
first-time buyer into someone who
remembers your store, comes back, and
trusts your brand.
Today, we're going to automate that
entire process using a pre-built Shopify
flow template.
This template is called welcome new
customers by email. It automatically
detects when a new customer account is
created and sends them a personalized
welcome message. Let's go ahead and
click install to add it to our store.
Once installed, we're dropped right into
the Shopify Flow workflow builder.
Before we turn this on, it's always a
good idea to test the automation with
real data so we can make sure everything
looks perfect before it goes live.
At the top of the canvas, click select
test event and then create event. We can
simulate this workflow by selecting a
real customer from our store. I'll
search for Russell Winfield and select
his profile to use as our test subject.
Hit save event. Now our workflow canvas
is locked into test mode using Russell's
data, which allows us to inspect each
node before activating the workflow.
First, let's look at the trigger. As
expected, it successfully pulls in the
customer created event. Next, the
condition node checks to make sure the
customer actually provided an email
address during signup. If the email
field is not empty, the workflow
continues down the true path.
Finally, the action node. Here, we're
using flow send to seamlessly deliver
the transactional email. You can
configure your custom email template or
write the content directly inside the
sidebar. This gives you control while
keeping the process fully automated.
Since everything looks great, let's
activate it. Click turn on workflow in
the top right. Confirm your choice and
you're done. Your store is now actively
welcoming every new customer on
autopilot.
