In today's video, I'm going to teach you
how to activate Shopify email
automations. We'll start right from your
Shopify admin.
Go ahead and log in to your Shopify
admin account, so you're on your main
dashboard.
This is where you manage everything for
your store, and it's also where we'll be
setting up your email automations.
Before you can fully use Shopify's email
automation features, you'll need to
install two important apps, Shopify
Messaging and Shopify Flow.
To do that, go to the Shopify app store.
In the search box, type messaging, then
look for the official Shopify Messaging
app and install it.
Follow the prompts until the
installation is complete. Once that's
done, go back to the search box, type
Flow, find the Shopify Flow app, and
install that as well.
These two apps work in the background
and help power your automated workflows.
When both apps are installed, return to
your Shopify admin dashboard.
On the left-hand side, you'll see a
menu.
Click on Marketing, and then choose
Automations.
This section is where all your marketing
automations live. Here, you'll see a
list of your existing automations, along
with their current status, which will be
shown as either active or inactive. This
makes it easy to understand what's
currently running for your store.
If you want to edit a specific
automation, simply click on its name.
This opens the workflow, so you can
customize it. Near the top right, you'll
see an option to edit the workflow.
Click Edit workflow to adjust the
triggers, actions, and timing to match
your strategy.
Take a moment to review each part of the
flow, so you're confident it behaves the
way you expect.
When you're ready to turn an automation
on, look at the upper right corner, and
click
Turn on automation.
If you ever need to pause it, you can
click that same button again to turn it
off and make it inactive.
To edit the email content itself, find
the small preview next to the activity
name, and click it. A pop-up preview of
your email automation will appear.
Click edit there, and on the new page,
click edit again in the top right.
You'll see a message letting you know
that editing this email will revert it
to a draft. Click continue to proceed.
Now you can customize the details.
Update the two field, the subject line,
preview text, and from name or address.
You can also add new sections like
elements,
product recommendations,
re-engagement blocks,
layout sections, or custom liquid. And
you can adjust the colors for the
content background and borders to match
your branding.
When you're happy with everything, make
sure you set the email back to active so
it starts sending again.
You can repeat the same process for all
of your active email automations to
ensure they're fully aligned with your
brand and marketing goals.
