Welcome to this quick SEO Lab tutorial.
In this video, I'm going to show you how
to use the SEO tags feature inside SEO
Lab, including meta tags and alt tags.
By the end, you'll know how to
automatically generate SEO titles,
descriptions, and image alt text for
your Shopify store. Let's get started.
Once you open SEO Lab, look at the left
side menu and click on SEO tags. Inside
this section, you'll see two options at
the top. Meta tags, alt tags. We'll
start with meta tags first and then move
to alt tags. Under meta tags, the first
section is product meta tags.
When this is turned on, SEO Lab
automatically generates meta titles,
meta descriptions for all your products.
You'll also see a box showing the
format, such as product title,
product description.
You can customize the template based on
how you want it displayed in search
results.
Below that, you'll see
overwrite existing meta tags.
Here's how it works. If overwrite is on,
SEO Lab replaces your existing meta
tags. If overwrite is off, SEO Lab only
fills meta tags that are empty. If you
already wrote good SEO manually, keep
overwrite off so nothing gets replaced.
Next, scroll down to collection meta
tags. Turn it on and SEO Lab auto
generates meta tags for collection pages
as well.
By default, it uses patterns like
collection title, shop name, collection
description, shop name. You can edit
these templates anytime. Again, choose
whether you want to overwrite or only
fill missing tags.
Finally, you have blog meta tags.
Turning this on will create SEO titles
and descriptions for all your blog
articles automatically. You can keep the
default template or adjust it to your
style. Once your settings are ready,
click save.
After that, a pop-up will appear. To
continue, click start now.
This will begin generating your meta
tags automatically.
At the bottom of the screen, you'll see
a progress bar showing how many meta
tags are being added, which module is
currently running.
Just let it complete.
Now, let's move to the alt tags tab.
Click on the alt tags section at the
top.
Here, SEO lab helps you optimize image
alt text for
products, collections, blogs.
You'll see a list of items along with
their product images and titles. Alt
tags help search engines understand what
images are about, improve accessibility,
and also support SEO.
At the top, you'll see a button fix all
alt text.
If you click this, SEO lab automatically
generates alt text for all images that
are missing it.
You can also edit any individual alt tag
manually by clicking the pencil icon
next to it.
This gives you both automation and
control.
And that's how you use meta tags and alt
tags inside SEO lab.
